Working on Track 3

Hello I’m Atlas Sinclair and this is Atlas is Bored, the blog version of my YouTube channel where I make up a bunch of stuff because I’m bored. Today, we are continuing on with my Half Life the video game fan fiction concept rock album project, where we’ll be making track 3 called Twenty Years Gone

In this track, Gordon has just been woken up from stasis by the G-man and he’s coming to terms with having spent 20yrs in stasis.  There is anger, confusion, frustration. His scientist mind is at work, trying to make sense of it all.

In this song we will get our first real introduction to the lead singer of The Last Frequency, who only had a brief verse and chorus in the Overture. He’ll be more center stage in this track.

His real name is Zack but he goes by Static. He’s the lead singer of the band and writes most of the lyrics.  He also runs the sample board that plays their synths and audio clips.  He worked as a communications operator during the Combine occupation.  Some of that time was spent repairing damaged communication lines and also building out new ones.  Apparently, and these are mostly rumors but they’ve persisted long enough to become true, he also ran comms on supply and deployment missions so, interestingly, many of the Combine actually knew his voice, though they never really saw him.  They don’t know what he looks like.  Word has it he didn’t just communicate with the Combine, he also passed information to the rebellion, letting them know of supply runs so they could interfere with them and either take supplies for themselves or to deprive the Combine from getting them.  He also informed on troop deployments, so the rebellion would know which areas to avoid.  This is all conjecture of course, no one really knows for sure and Static doesn’t talk specifics.  He says what he has to say in the lyrics.

This track really starts to reveal the energy of the band. It’s got a strong rock vibe and works to channel the anger and confusion that Gordon is feeling into the rebellious spirit the band is known for. I’ve got some solid ideas on the lyrics and how they should sound, so let’s starting writing them. You can check out the process on my Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/NsRIH8k62m8

Thanks for tuning in. I’ll see you in the next episode when we start working on Track 4, where Gordon arrives in City 17.
